sleeping giant ride

yesterday went better than expected, and even though my legs were nowhere near fresh, i did much better than i expected. i rode to SG, and the ride took me about 5 mins less than usual, so that was encouraging. when i got there early, i was left to sit around and shiver in the cold while everyone else sat in their car. when the ride started, i tried to stay at the front half of the pack, just for possition so the group wouldnt fly to far past me if they all jumped and i needed time to get spining. after about 5 mins of what i gusse youd call the warm up, everyone picked up the tempo and i wsa surprised that some of the old guys pulled past me, that woke me up and i was soon turning up the gears. i was pleased with how i was going, holding on at the back while trying to conserve my muscels; its not where you are when the ride starts, its where you are when the ride ends- have to keep that in mind always. when things got moving, i did for a second think that i was going to get droped, and i held on for longer than i thought, but the second the big boys got sick of us little guys, they let it be known and picked up the pace. when that happened, i held on for the first 5 mins, at the back, but i was being too cuatious and let a gap form that was big enough to make the speed to great when i had to climb with no protection from the wind. at that point, i got droped, but i was happy as i was the last of the pack to fall back and pulled the rest of the guys that got droped all the way to where we caught up with the main groupe. at that point all of those guys where done just from holding my wheel, so i gusse i was doing somthing right. when we meet up with the group again i actually stayed this time, athough they were probly winding down. the ride home was terrible, dark, tired, wet, cold, no fun at all, but it was good for me.
over all i cant wait till nextweek

start again

apparently, i already thought of starting a blog, but, seeing as it is now spring and not November, and i will need to track my training more rigorously, i need to actual do this- blogging- stuff. if at the very least just to keep track of the ever increasing time i spent trying to get down to my time goal, which will be a 70.3 in 4:40. which is reachable, but i need to improve my run by quite a bit. if i bring down the bike again which i know i will i will be happy, but i want to be with the big dogs for the bike segment, to show i am a threat, before i over haul my run next season. not that i wont be over hauling my run this season, but a goal of running 8 min miles for a half is not nearly scary enough as it should be. i ran a 8:54 last year, and i barley ran before that event.

over the weekend i got some good riding in, not Sat. morning with the yalies, unfortunately, because stacy was in town, fortunately. i did about 30 miles in the afternoon, the fountain street route to milford and back. adv was 18 on the dot. that made me happy. on sunday i did 67 for the first time in months, gotta love those extended climbs that never end :). an hour of that to spin the legs and then home for 20 miles total, 18.2. was ok with that cuz its mostly climbing with a fun rocket ride home.

monday, yesterday, i did some ok chest weights at the gym before running 4 miles at 8 pace (sick of being so slow, but dont want to blow out my feet which have been behaving recently, despite being crushed) and then swam. im appy i have been following through on bumping up the volume of swimming i do, hope it lasts, especially when i start going every morning.
